Hi, I’m Kära.

In a world that often demands more from us than we can give, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. If you've ever felt the weight of expectations pressing down on you, know that you're not alone. We all need support sometimes, and that's where therapy comes in—a dedicated space just for you to explore, heal, and grow.

As a single mom of two teenagers and proud parent to a little dog named Nutmeg, I understand the delicate balance of family life. Between my kids' bustling schedules and life's demands, I've learned to cherish our moments of connection.

Some of my favorite times are the simple ones:

  • Curling up in a cozy chair with my favorite snacks, watching a movie with my kids

  • Firing up the grill and experimenting with new recipes

  • Soaking in the outdoors (as long as it's not too hot!)

  • Losing myself in the rhythm of music, whether I'm listening or singing

  • Stealing quiet moments to dive into a good book

Life can be challenging, but it's also full of beautiful, ordinary moments. In our therapy sessions, we'll work together to help you navigate the tough times and savor the good ones. Your journey is unique, and I'm here to support you every step of the way.

A Journey from Classroom to Counseling Room

For years, I found my calling in the vibrant world of public education, primarily guiding middle schoolers but working with all ages from preschool to high school. The joy of connecting with children and their families fueled my passion for teaching. But as I grew, so did my desire to impact our community in new and profound ways.

This led me to pursue a Master's in Social Work from the University of Illinois, opening doors to help people beyond the classroom walls. Now, as a therapist, I bring the warmth of a teacher and the expertise of a social worker to every session.

Your Story Matters

Just as every student brought a unique perspective to my classroom, I believe every client brings a special story to therapy. Whether you're:

  • A young person finding your way in the world

  • An individual seeking personal growth

  • A couple looking to strengthen your bond

  • A family navigating life's challenges

I'm here to listen, understand, and work alongside you.

A Special Place for Young Clients

My years in education have given me a deep appreciation for the unique challenges and incredible potential of young people. I love working with children and teenagers, providing a safe, nurturing space where they can express themselves, develop coping skills, and build resilience. Whether it's navigating school stress, family dynamics, or personal growth, I'm here to support young clients on their journey.

Couples Therapy: Building Stronger Connections

For couples, I use my training in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy to help you:

  • Enhance your friendship and intimacy

  • Manage conflict productively

  • Create shared meaning in your relationship

Together, we'll work on practical skills to help your relationship not just survive, but thrive.

A Safe Space for Growth

Therapy is a journey of self-discovery and growth. It's a place where your uniqueness isn't just accepted—it's celebrated. Whether you're taking your first steps into therapy or continuing a long-standing journey, I'm honored to be a part of your path.

You deserve support, understanding, and growth. Remember, finding the right therapist is crucial. I encourage you to explore and find the best fit for you. If our paths align, I'd be privileged to walk with you towards the good things waiting ahead.
