Hi, I’m Dana.

As someone who has been through therapy, I have stumbled and been through the awkward, the difficult, and the messy with different therapists throughout my life. I understand firsthand that it can be difficult to be vulnerable, and I am here to provide a safe, warm, and nonjudgmental space to embrace and welcome all my clients, meet them where they are at in their mental health goal journey, and assist in becoming comfortable with the uncomfortable.

My passion is for helping individuals improve and heal their relationship with themselves, their bodies, and food. I help individuals navigate full recovery after an eating disorder, disordered eating, chronic dieting, poor body image, anxiety, self-esteem, and low self-worth.

Disordered eating is greatly encouraged in our society- counting, measuring, cutting out food groups, fasting… the list goes on and on, and most recent diet fads are disguised as “wellness” and “lifestyle changes.” My goal is to help individuals break free from diet culture and embrace food freedom and intuitive eating, which IS possible.

Through social media and the diet culture we live in, many have the perceived notion of what an eating disorder looks like. I am here to tell you that you don’t have to “look like you have an eating disorder” in order to seek help. Eating disorders come in all shapes and sizes- and do not discriminate against gender, race, social status, or age. The fear of “not being sick enough” is often the biggest barrier to seeking help. I am here to provide validation that your struggle is real and you deserve help.

I consider the importance of all aspects of one’s identity and how that plays a role in the therapeutic relationship. I also implement the Health at Every Size principle in my therapy- meaning I honor bodies of all shapes and sizes who struggle with body image and/or disordered eating. Additionally, I believe the “deeper level work” typically involves identifying and processing systemic social justice aspects of our relationships with food and our bodies.

I believe that every client is an individual and needs an individualized treatment program. I utilize an integrated therapeutic approach including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR approaches, Mindfulness and Client-Centered therapy. I have experience working with clients individually and in group settings in residential, inpatient and outpatient treatment centers.

She/Her

I do this work, because I’ve been there. Everyone's struggle is unique; however, I remember how it felt to be consumed by an eating disorder and crippling worry and sadness. I love being able to help others to find the same freedom that I did.

I'm a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC), and received my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Eastern Illinois University. I have experience with a variety of populations and I love seeing people across the age spectrum, from preteens, high school students, to young adults, to middle aged and beyond. Beyond eating disorders, I also work with individuals that struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, self-injury, maternal mental health, parenting difficulties, behavioral concerns and relationship difficulties.

I am here to help equip you with the tools to overcome the most difficult mental barriers and empower you to make positive changes in your life. Whatever you may be dealing with, let’s explore it together and get the support and help you deserve.

Important things for you to know: I am a big fan of coffee, messy hair buns, country music and being outdoors. I have a daughter and son, the hardest and absolute best parts of my life. I’m also a dog mom and animal lover. Fall is my FAVORITE season and I love everything pumpkin and embracing oversized sweaters and leggings.

Let’s connect and start your healing journey.

As always, be kind to your mind, be kind to your body.
