“I'm convinced that when we help our children find healthy ways of dealing with their feelings--ways that don't hurt them or anyone else--we're helping to make our world a safer, better place.”

– Fred Rogers

Are you struggling with how to help your child or teenager? Is your child struggling with displaying negative behaviors and emotionally unable to communicate their feelings or thoughts effectively? Let me help you and your child find practical tools to assist with coping and managing life successfully.

Counseling is often scary for adults, let alone kids and teens. I believe that everyone, at some point in their life, could benefit from counseling. It’s my goal as a therapist to help you and your child feel comfortable and accepted while taking this step. Counseling is a safe place to address issues and to gain a fresh perspective. Although there’s perhaps nothing magical about counseling, there is something special about connecting with someone who is objective and accepts you for who you are.

Raising teens is not a job for the faint hearted. Between school, dating, social media, gender and sexual identity, substances, sex, and peer pressure our teens are under constant scrutiny. This means that parents are as well. I can help you reconnect with your teen and get them back on track.

If you or your child are struggling in life, counseling may be right for you. Young children experience all the same emotions that adults do; they may not always have the verbal capabilities to express them though. I employ Play Therapy techniques which allow children to process emotions without necessarily even having to talk about them. Play is essential to the soul! Teenagers often benefit from the non-judgmental, safe space that counseling provides. Various evidence-based interventions in addition to building a professional, yet caring relationship with a therapist can make a world of difference in the quality of you and your child’s life.

I have a master's degree in Counseling from Eastern Illinois University. In 2007, I became a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and began providing counseling to children, teens, individuals, and families.
